How Does Human Development Affects Life On Land?

“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
― John Muir

Welcome!

Let’s learn about how human development is having as great impact on biodiversity.

What is this about?

Nowadays thre are plenty of topics that concern human kind, but the most importante of them all is by far the modification of our environment.

These modifications are mostly caused by human activities: population growth and industrialization are the most important factors on this topic, and they are linked; since population started to grow in an excessive way, it is getting harder and harder to produce enough food for all humans on the planet, so the industry needs to expand in order to cover all the food needs, and to build more and more factories we need land, adn to get land we destroy a lot of ecosystems with living and important species living there, but we destroy them anyway. Another way in which we modify land is when we destroy these ecosystems in order to turn them into land for agriculture or livestock (also to increase food production); these changes really alter many functions and characteristics from an specific region, that eventually affects all the planet. Each region has specific climate conditions, vegetation and animals that drastically change when we introduce un-wanted species on its environment, and many of them cannot be adapted to these new conditions, so the have to go somewhere else, or they die; the consequences this has on the planet are really relevant, first of all because they are living species, and they are part of our great biodiversity, but they are also important for us and our benefit (and even our survival); the modification of land is one of the main causes for extinction and global warming, because a lot of species are dissapearing or changing, and many of them were helpful in order to reduce many of the effects human development has on them; but now the are unable to help us.

We just do not realize that all of the things we are destroying will eventually destroy us; all of them are important for our planet, and if they do not survive, we will not be able to survive either. Earth is our only home, the only place where we can live and grow as a species, but there is not going to be growth or development if keep on destroying our planet like this; but everything changes, we need to keep in mind that we have the ability to modify our surroundings (there is no doubt of that), but it is important to do it in a possitive way, in order to have a better future not only for us, but for the future generations, so they can enjoy nature and all of its byproducts.
